Things I appreciated this past week:
My Main Taste Tester’s family all have matching hand-knit Christmas stockings with their names on them. I had been using a pink and leopard one that I loved for a couple of years now but his mom surprised me with my own personalized stocking made to match theirs last week. When she showed it to me, I was so touched. Beyond the thoughtfulness of the gesture, I never have anything personalized because of my unusual name. Such a cool surprise.
I made homemade cinnamon buns for the first time and I was really happy with how they turned out. Recipe to come!
I got to go out for a sit down dinner date with my Main Taste Tester last week. Because I cook so much, we don’t often go out for a meal. It was so nice to spend some quality time with him out of the house for a change.
I had a lovely and sunny Sunday morning coffee chat with a good friend.
I found the coolest cookbook at the library. Full of the craziest recipes from famous food trucks all over Canada and the States, this one inspires me to experiment with some wild combos. I can’t wait to hit up our food trucks now!
First BBQ of the season. So, so good.
This past week I was nominated to post a “makeup free selfie” on Facebook and I was totally petrified at the thought. I have always been into makeup and am definitely an old fashioned girl in the sense that I don’t love being seen by just anyone when I don’t look my best. I felt mildly stressed about it all day but I also knew I didn’t want to be a poor sport. I scrubbed up before bed, took the picture, posted it and went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning I was shocked at the amount of supportive, positive feedback I received. Interestingly enough, more feedback than I ever get when I post a “normal” photo. I was super inspired and I felt very liberated about it for days after. What a positive experience!
