The Drugstore Beauty Products I Can’t Live Without

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

I had always heard rave reviews about Cetaphil products, especially the cream, but frankly, thought it seemed pretty basic. I mean, it was unscented cream that cost $25. How good could it be? Um, I stand corrected. This stuff has completely changed my skin. In a moment of desperation last Fall, I bought it hoping to calm down my dry, irritated skin that was breaking out like crazy. Almost overnight, things improved drastically. This stuff moisturizes like no other; it’s like spreading butter all over your face. I used to call my skin oily with dry patches but since using this, I would define my skin as pretty normal. I never go a night without it and if I do, my skin revolts almost instantly. I’ll never be without it again.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

After falling in love with the cream, I started to use the lighter Cetaphil lotion for day. It soaks up right away and keeps my skin moisturized without ever being oily. It also makes a great base under makeup and you only need a few drops, which means a bottle lasts forever.

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara

Once in a while I’ll be tempted by a new mascara ad and try one out only to be disappointed time and time again. I’ve used this mascara since high school and it’s always the one I fall back on. It gives great thickness and volume without being heavy and I love how dark the Carbon Black is. Favorite everyday mascara, by far.

Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara

This mascara is the only exception to the rule. My sister introduced me to it and for $4.99, I figured it was worth a try. It’s what I use for a going out look and really dramatic lashes; the brush is huge. I get asked if I’m wearing falsies when I wear this one and it really stays put too. I’ve only ever seen it for sale at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer

I’ve used this since high school and never even considered buying another kind because it works so well. It’s waterproof and covers great. I sometimes forgo foundation and just dab this on trouble areas and despite how well it covers, it never feels heavy. I use the “Medium” shade. It has a nice yellow undertone for hiding under eye circles.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

I have tried EVERY dry shampoo under the sun but truly nothing works like Batiste. It doesn’t leave my hair greasy or powdery like so many others do and there are a variety of great scents to choose from.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

I wear these every single day and never leave home without one. The colors are great, the stains are natural and the formula is nice and creamy. My favorite every day shade is “Honey”, a pinky nude. I also love “Crush” for a berry lip and “Rendezvous”, which is a punchy tangerine shade.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick-Fairest Nude

I don’t wear this every single day but it is my perfect nude lipstick so I’m including it here. Any girl who’s ever searched for “the one” feels my pain. I tried a million too brown, too pink, too dark, too chalky nude lipsticks before grabbing this one. It is truly a neutral nude and totally gorgeous.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

I kept hearing about this foundation on several beauty blogs and decided to give it a whirl. I’m now obsessed with it. It’s so lightweight, long-lasting, blends great and has a light-medium coverage.

Olay Quench Plus Touch of Sun Body Lotion

Lotions that have a touch of self-tanner often smell bad or have a weird texture. Not this one. It smells fresh and light, absorbs quickly, moisturizes well and leaves a natural looking glow behind. I’ve used it for years.

 Garnier Fructis Crystal Resist Spray-Volume

I’ve stuck with this hairspray for years. Here’s why: It gives my hair a subtle shine. It holds well without ever being crunchy. The bottle is huge. It’s crazy cheap. It smells great. What more could you ask for in a hairspray?

Unscented Baby Wipes

I used to rely on makeup remover towelettes regularly before realizing that the scent in them irritated my skin. I changed to unscented baby wipes and have no irritation at all. Bonus: they are way cheaper than regular facial wipes.
