Regina Eats: Bonzzini’s

I’m always interested to hear where people regularly choose to eat when they eat out. As I tend to cook the majority of our meals at home, going out is maybe a once-a-week occurrence, but we’ve definitely honed in on our favorite places in the city.

One of these favorites for us is Bonzzini’s. It’s been Tom’s Tuesday night wing spot for years but I had only tried it one other time prior to us moving to the South end. Now that we live closer to it, we are definitely becoming “regulars”, which I love.

The Food: Classic pub food. Bonzzini’s has won best wings in Regina several years in a row. The Fish and Chips is also popular here; you’ll see it on many tables whenever you go.

The Atmosphere: Cozy, dimly lit and old-school feeling with lots of dark wood and neon lights. I always feel nostalgic here because it reminds me of my parent’s rumpus room in my childhood home. It kind of looks like the bar in “Cheers”.

My Favorites: The Smoked Brisket Sandwich; this is probably my favorite sandwich in the city, period. The meat is super tender and flavorful and they accent it with caramelized onion, cheddar cheese and a herbed mayo. The Bonzo Burger; the patty is homemade and they serve it on a cheese bun, which I love. The Toasted Subs; the Tzatziki Chicken is my favorite. Lagers and Dill Dip; these crunchy chips are awesome as a side or on their own.
